Getting Started...

For all of us who live at a stressful pace, learning Transcendental Meditation is not an easy task. Just trying to find a nice quiet place to sit without being disturbed can be hard. Especially with home stresses like family, TV, phone and outside noises that cause you to give up.

There are ways to conduct your meditation without being disturbed; including letting people in your household know that for at least 20 minutes there will have to be quiet, or pick a time in the evening when everyone is sleeping that you can settle into a nice quiet spot - not too late in the evening that you fall asleep while attempting to meditate. Some people have even taken to going to a natural conservation area or a favorite spot in the wilderness, that no one knows, to meditate. For a woman, you must always be cautious (maybe have a buddy to meditate with) unless you know your surroundings well.

Transcendental Meditation is deeper than any meditation technique. It is self-hypnosis that is done without any outside influences. No one tells you how to do it, you've just got to do it for yourself. You are in control of yourself. If you want to listen to relaxing music or have inscense burning while you're doing it, that's totally up to you. We all know ourselves better than anyone else would, right? Twenty minutes is what is told as reference to be ample time to meditate, but to be satisfied with the session, you have to make up your own limit. Sometimes the body knows how much it needs to gather itself back into a well state. Don't let anyone tell you less or more - it's only what you can handle. You will get to know this the more you do it.

Practice makes perfect.

The proper sitting technique is to be in the 'Lotus' position with your back straight and your legs crossed and your fingers intertwined on your lap comfortably. I know it's hard to keep the posture in your back from slumping forward, but again with proper technique and practice, it will become easier. Whatever makes you comfortable! Lastly when you are ready there is a word. This word is yours and may not be in the same context as what you use in everyday life. It is a word that will make you concentrate deeper and bring you focus. My word (just to let you know a little) is a common word that is not used a lot, and it is not the same association. It is a secret word that may even help you on a stressful day when you have practiced enough times meditating, that you speak it to yourself when stress arises. It will calm you.

This is a good start, and I hope will get you to try it for yourself.

Please send a comment.

Thank you.

Finding Yourself Inside

There is a place that no corporate advertising can reach. It is a comfortable place where no noise can disturb it, where there is healing in a time of great pain, peace in a time of confusion. It's a place deep inside where survival and existance is the most important. This is a place where we learn to grow, expand mentally and become comfortable with one's self. It's a place where there is hope in all things good and it makes us focus on what is healthy for our continuation of life.

It starts when we are young, when we start to question what is outside of us as well as what is in. One should never be afraid to face one's own wholeness with the things we can sense inside or out at any age. If you are courageous enough, you can face many things and keep strong through many adversities. This is where we find ourselves and become comfortable with who and what we are.

Transcendental meditation is a common ground where all of us can be at our very basics. Developing within as well as without. There are many great philosophers such as Socrates to Dr. Carl Jung who knew the benefits of meditation as a way of clearing the mind of negative thinking into positive outward reaction to our environment. To know ourselves and the world around us. Isn't that the ultimate goal of every vital being on this earth? And maybe to make things better in a positive way.

This blog will create a way of letting people know more about Transcendental Meditation and maybe a different way to look at the world. This is a meditation blog. This is the place where we all can learn to understand that we are more precious and volatile to ourselves than we realize. Please visit often and do not fear. We are at the primary level and there is so much to learn.
